St. Lucy’s Day

On the Feast of St. Lucy, December 13, our eighth grade girls dressed as St. Lucy and shared the story of her life and a treat with the students in the school.   St. Lucy is a Sicilian martyr who died rather than renounce her faith.  A thousand years after her death, a town in Sweden was saved from starvation when St. Lucy appeared with a boat filled with food.  She is considered the saint of light and is pictured with a wreath of candles in her hair that she used when feeding the poor in the catacombs.
